Your information
Privacy Policy
How LeanLine processes information, why it is used, and the controls available to you.
Last updated: August 25, 2026
1. Introduction and Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how LeanLine collects, uses, shares, stores, and protects information when you use the LeanLine iOS application, its widgets and extensions, and LeanLine invite pages (together, “LeanLine”).
LeanLine is operated by Minjian Hu, an individual developer (“Developer,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). For privacy requests, questions, or complaints, contact LeanLine@163.com.
2. Accounts and Identifiers
LeanLine can create an anonymous account without asking for an email address, phone number, or real name. Supabase assigns that account a random user identifier. We use the identifier to operate your profile, social features, purchases, notifications, safety features, and support requests.
You may optionally protect an existing anonymous account with Sign in with Apple. Account protection is required before purchasing a Personal or Iconic LeanLine Code so that the purchase and Code can be recovered after reinstalling LeanLine or changing devices. Linking Apple is designed to keep the same LeanLine user identifier and existing app data. Apple may provide LeanLine with an Apple-specific identifier and, depending on your choices and whether it is your first authorization, your name and email address or private relay email address. LeanLine does not receive your Apple ID password.
Existing users may continue using an anonymous account without linking Apple unless they choose to purchase a Personal or Iconic Code. An anonymous account that has not been protected may not be recoverable if its local authentication credentials are lost.
3. Information We Process
LeanLine processes the following categories of information:
- Profile and Social Data: Your optional nickname, avatar, LeanLine Code, friend relationships and requests, blocks, challenges, Squads, roles, reactions, streaks, relative progress, logging activity, leaderboards, cycle results, and related social records. A person who enters your exact LeanLine Code may be shown limited profile information, such as your nickname and avatar, before you accept a friend request. Friends and participants in challenges or Squads may see the social information relevant to those features.
- Personal and Iconic LeanLine Codes: Candidate Codes you check, Code tier, availability and price quotes, temporary reservations, purchase credits, your current and retired Codes, Code-change history, transaction and refund status, and anti-fraud or support records. A retired Code is not reassigned to another user. Existing LeanLine invite links may resolve to the owner’s current Code so that previously shared links continue working.
- Local-First Weight and Body Data: Raw weight logs, height, and calculations such as BMI are stored on your device. If you enable Apple Health, authorized Body Mass data is also read from or written to the Health app. Except when you deliberately export or share information using iOS sharing features, LeanLine does not upload your raw body weight to LeanLine servers. Social features may send relative change (for example, weight lost or gained or percentage change) or logging activity to LeanLine servers to calculate challenge and Squad results. Relative information may still reveal trends about your body or habits.
- User Content and Media: Nicknames, avatars, Squad names, Squad background images, reactions, reports, invite messages, and cards or images you choose to share. LeanLine uses Apple’s system photo picker where available and accesses only media you actively select. Uploaded avatars and Squad backgrounds may be stored at URLs accessible to people who receive or can discover those URLs. LeanLine writes an image to your photo library only when you ask it to save an image.
- Purchases: Product identifiers, localized offerings, Apple transaction and receipt information, purchase status, entitlements, refunds, and related account identifiers. Apple processes payment information. LeanLine does not receive or store your full payment-card details.
- Device and Notification Data: Push notification tokens or subscription identifiers, LeanLine’s account identifier, device and operating-system information, language, notification status, and notification delivery or interaction information. We do not intentionally collect IMEI numbers, MAC addresses, or precise GPS location.
- Safety and Support Data: Reports, blocks, the content and context needed to investigate a report, support messages, and records reasonably needed to enforce our Terms, prevent abuse or fraud, or protect users.
- Technical Data: Basic logs and error information needed to secure, diagnose, and operate LeanLine and its backend services.
4. Device Features and Permissions
LeanLine uses device features only for the functions you choose or enable:
- Apple Health: Optional read and write access to Body Mass. HealthKit data is used only to import weight history and sync new weight logs. It is not used for advertising, marketing, data brokerage, or sale. You can revoke access in iOS Settings.
- Notifications: Optional notifications for requests, challenges, nudges, Squad activity, reactions, reminders, and other enabled events. You can disable notifications in iOS Settings.
- Photos and Sharing: The system photo picker, photo-library write access, and share sheet are used only when you select, save, export, or share content.
- Clipboard: LeanLine does not automatically read or clear your clipboard to import a Code. Clipboard text is received only when you use the system Paste control.
- Widgets, Siri, and Shortcuts: LeanLine may store limited streak or display data in its private app group for widgets and may process information you deliberately submit through Siri, Shortcuts, or App Intents.
- Face ID or Device Authentication: If you enable an app lock, iOS performs authentication. LeanLine receives the success or failure result, not your biometric data.
Permissions can be managed through LeanLine or iOS Settings. Some features will not work if the corresponding permission is denied or revoked.
5. How We Use Information
We use information described in this policy to:
- create, protect, and recover LeanLine accounts;
- provide profiles, friends, challenges, Squads, leaderboards, invite links, sharing, widgets, and other requested features;
- calculate social results using relative progress or logging activity;
- process, validate, restore, and support PRO and LeanLine Code purchases;
- reserve, issue, change, retire, and protect Personal and Iconic Codes;
- deliver notifications and reminders you enable;
- provide support and respond to privacy, safety, refund, or account requests;
- detect, investigate, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, security incidents, technical failures, and violations of our Terms; and
- comply with legal obligations and protect legal rights.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use HealthKit data, raw weight logs, or relative weight progress for advertising. LeanLine does not include third-party behavioral advertising.
6. Service Providers and Disclosures
We disclose information only as needed to operate LeanLine, complete a user-requested action, protect users and the service, or comply with law:
- Supabase hosts authentication, profiles, social data, LeanLine Code records, reports, and other server-side information described above.
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple, HealthKit, notifications, system permissions, and App Store payment and refund processing under Apple’s terms and privacy practices.
- RevenueCat validates App Store transactions and manages PRO and LeanLine Code purchase status. It may process LeanLine’s account identifier, product and transaction information, receipts, entitlement status, and basic device or app information needed to provide that service.
- OneSignal manages push subscriptions and delivery. It may process LeanLine’s account identifier, push token or subscription identifier, device and operating-system information, language, and notification delivery or interaction data.
We may also disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process, investigate fraud or abuse, protect the safety and rights of users or others, or support a business transfer where permitted by law. If you deliberately share or export information, the recipient and the selected app or service will process it under their own terms.
7. Storage, Security, and International Processing
Local information is stored using iOS and LeanLine app storage. Server-side information is stored and processed by our service providers. Information may be processed in countries other than the country where you live, subject to the safeguards required by applicable law.
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. Protect your device, Apple account, LeanLine Code, Squad invite codes, and any content you choose to share.
8. Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably needed to provide LeanLine, maintain transaction and Code integrity, prevent fraud and abuse, secure the service, resolve disputes, enforce our Terms, and comply with law.
Profile and active social information is generally retained while your account exists. Purchase, transaction, refund, retired-Code, fraud-prevention, safety, and legal records may be retained longer where reasonably necessary. Backups and security logs may remain for a limited period before being overwritten or deleted. Our service providers may retain information according to their own legal and operational requirements.
9. Access, Correction, and Account Deletion
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of certain personal information, and to appeal or complain to a data-protection authority. To exercise a right, use available in-app controls or contact LeanLine@163.com. We may need to verify your request and may retain information where permitted or required by law.
You can request account deletion in LeanLine’s Privacy & Safety settings. Account deletion is designed to remove the account’s profile and social records, end its active relationships and participation, delete its current notification profile where technically possible, sign the device out of notification and purchase services, and remove LeanLine’s local widget data.
Deletion does not automatically remove:
- weight information previously written to Apple Health, which you control in the Health app;
- exports, shared cards, screenshots, invite messages, or information already received or saved by other people or services;
- App Store purchase and refund records controlled by Apple;
- limited transaction, retired-Code, fraud-prevention, safety, legal, backup, or security records that we are permitted or required to retain; or
- historical information that has been anonymized or must remain to preserve the integrity of another user’s challenge, Squad, transaction, or safety record.
Deleting the LeanLine app from a device does not by itself delete the server-side account. An unprotected anonymous account may become inaccessible after the app or its credentials are removed.
10. Social Sharing and Invite Codes
You choose whether to use LeanLine’s social features. Only connect, challenge, or join a Squad with people you trust. Anyone who obtains a valid friend Code, Squad invite code, or invite link may be able to use it as described in the app. LeanLine cannot control screenshots, recordings, forwarded codes, saved cards, or information another person shares outside LeanLine.
11. Children’s Privacy
LeanLine is not directed to children below the minimum age required to use digital services or consent to personal-data processing in their country or region. If parental or guardian consent is legally required, the child may use LeanLine only with that consent. If we learn that personal information was collected from a child without required consent, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to address it.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when LeanLine or applicable requirements change. We will update the “Last Updated” date and provide additional notice when reasonably appropriate. Material changes apply prospectively from their effective date unless otherwise required by law.
